The connection between the record and the amplifier

A phono preamp (colloquially known as a phono stage) will bring out the best in your turntable and cartridge. These highly-specialized pieces of audio devices are essential to amplifying the output from a cartridge and delivering it to your component preamp (The electrical output of a cartridge is far too small to be amplified adequately by simply plugging it into a normal RCA-style line input). The phone stages shown here produce the right enhancement of bass notes and balances treble notes, plus enhances the EQ curve.
